Royal icing without eggs is easy to make. Just an egg-free version of the traditional royal icing, it’s what we use when we have to make cakes, eggless cookies, or easter eggs for our vegetarian friends.
You can also use this vegetarian royal icing to decorate desserts for your veggie friends. They’ll love it! Mine do!
What Ingredients Do You Need to Make Eggless Royal Icing?
Liquid Glucose, icing sugar, hot water and essence. Colour if needed. And lemon juice or citric acid if you want a pure white colour.
How To Make Royal Icing without Egg?
Add icing sugar to a bowl. Mix in milk, liquid glucose, and lemon juice. Beat with a fork or whisk till it’s ready, and use to immediately. Isn’t that quick? Literally doesn’t take any time!
If you have any problems, here are a few notes. To check consistency with a fork, take a little icing on a fork and tilt. It should form a drop that’s ready to run but not really run. If it turns out to be runny like on the Easter eggs below, it’s no good. Add more icing sugar!
Add more powdered sugar if it’s too runny.
Or add more milk if it’s too dry.
You can also add any essence (vanilla, butterscotch, almond, etc) or color (red, yellow, green, pink, orange, blue) of your choice to the royal icing for flavour.
