Clarksville, Tennessee is known as the home of the Airborne Division. Ft. Campbell is the heart of this growing city and fills the streets with pride. Only located about 45 minutes north-west of Nashville, you can find that Clarksville has its own historical and unique southern charm.

In this post I am going to take you through my favorite places of Clarksville, Tennessee. After living here for 6 years, I have come to find that Clarksville has a lot more to offer. My list can be extensive but I’m going to name my top 10 favorite things to do in Clarksville.

1. START THE DAY OFF AT G’S PANCAKE HOUSE

G’s Pancake House is like IHop but much better. This local restaurant has some of the friendliest staff ever, delicious pancakes, and a good cup of coffee. My family and I chose G’s Pancake House over any other pancake house any day. Add it to your list of must-eat spots in Tennessee!

2. ENJOY A MORNING WALK AT LIBERTY PARK

Clarksville has many parks that I love to visit but Liberty Park is one of my favorites that is by the river. It has many things to do and they even hold events there like the hot air balloon event two years ago. My daughters also love it because it has a large park where they can play at and make new friends.

The trail runs alongside a creek and out to an old barn through the woods. There is also a great spot for the kiddos to play in the water at. By the parking lot you can also find pavilions, a picnic area, and even a park for the children to play at. Best of all, there are restrooms here. This is always a plus for me as we are always with our girls.

You can check out all of the details about Rotary Park here. You definitely don’t want to miss the outdoor fun here.

4. EAT LUNCH AT STRAWBERRY ALLEY ALE WORKS

Strawberry Alley is a new and local restaurant that was built downtown. It is absolutely beautiful inside and the food is delicious. If you’re wondering where to eat in Clarksville, add this place to your must-visit Tennessee restaurant list.

They also have a nice variety of draft beers for you to try, some of them even being local beers. The restaurant has several seating areas too so whether you come in a group, alone, want to eat outside, or have a family, they will have the perfect spot for you.

5. VISIT DUNBAR CAVE STATE PARK

My family and I always aim to visit at least one state park when we travel. Clarksville is home to Dunbar Cave State Park which is actually a very historical and unique place to visit. If you go during the summer season you can even purchase tickets to do a tour of the caves.

See my full travel guide to Dunbar Cave here and see how you can make the best of your visit. They also have hiking trails that are fairly short if you want to add another hike to your itinerary.

6. EAT ICE CREAM AT GOLLY G’S

7. DRINK LOCAL WINE AT BEACHAVEN WINERY

Beachaven Winery has by far my favorite winery in Tennessee. Ever since I tried their wines, my husband and I haven’t drank any other wine. It just doesn’t compare. When you visit Beachaven Winery you can do a free wine tasting with the purchase of a wine bottle. During your visit you can also do the tour which will go over the extensive process of how they make their wine and their history.

Coming in the summer? Then you have to go to Jazz on the Lawn. Jazz on the Lawn is one of their biggest events and it is held Saturday nights at the winery. Grab some wine, cheese, and enjoy the music. See which wines are my favorite here.

8. DRINK SOME DELICIOUS WHISKEY AT OLD GLORY DISTILLING CO.

Located not too far from Beachaven Winery you can find Old Glory Distilling Co. They have some of the best whiskey and bourbon in the area. They also do tours of their facilities and show you the process of how their liquors are made which is pretty cool.

9. WATCH THE SUNSET AT MCGREGOR PARK BY RIVERSIDE

McGregor Park is located on Riverside in the downtown area. It is one of our other favorite parks located by the Cumberland River. The sunsets here are absolutely beautiful so if you have a nice sky and want to watch a beautiful sunset, this is the place to be at.

Besides the sunset, you can also find a short paved trail that runs alongside the river as well. There is also a park for the kids and a small historic center for you to visit as well.

If you come during the summer/fall timeframe then you can also keep an eye out for events. This is a huge spot for local events. If you are visiting in the winter then you will definitely love all of the Christmas lights and scenery that they set up.

10. GRAB A DELICIOUS CUP OF COFFEE AT PLUMB LINE COFFEE

There are many local coffee shops in the area but Plumb Line Coffee is definitely one at the top of my list. They have a nice wide variety of coffees to choose from and the environment is super clean and friendly.

CONCLUSION

Well, that’s a wrap. It was hard to pick my top 10 for sure. All of these are perfect for a weekend adventure with a special someone, your family, or even a solo trip.
