Located along the Atlantic Coast of Florida, Vero Beach is a charming coastal town that offers plenty to do on the weekends! Known for its gorgeous beaches, fresh seafood, and laid-back atmosphere, Vero Beach has something for everyone. Whether you’re a nature lover, foodie, or simply want to relax, here are some ideas for your Vero Beach weekend.

1. Hit the beach!

Vero Beach has miles of beautiful beaches perfect for body-surfing, floating, or just enjoying the view from your beach chair.

If you want to really add some adventure to your beach day, you could rent a kayak or even a jet ski. There are several public beaches, although most hotels and resorts have a private beach to enjoy.

2. Indulge in fresh seafood

Vero Beach boasts a vibrant culinary scene with a wide array of dining options, just like St. Augustine does. From seafood shacks in nearby Sebastian serving freshly caught fish to upscale restaurants overlooking the ocean in downtown Vero Beach, there’s something to satisfy everyone.

Don’t miss the opportunity to indulge in some of the freshest seafood and most creative cocktails around!

3. Have fun on an airboat tour

There are several options for airboat tours in Vero Beach, and all of them start from the same location, so you can’t go wrong with any of them. I highly recommend Captain Bob’s Airboat tours from personal experience.

From a private tour to a boat full of new friends, either way, you’ll enjoy learning about the inland swamps and natural surroundings, and probably spot a few alligators!

If alligators are not your cup of tea, go on a fishing charter on the Indian River and catch some Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Snook or Black Drum.

4. Enjoy downtown Vero Beach

Take a leisurely stroll through the historic downtown Vero Beach and soak up the town’s charming atmosphere.

The downtown is lined with specialty boutiques, swimwear shops, art galleries, and unique eateries. Browse through the eclectic mix of stores, pick up souvenirs, and sample some of the delicious local treats such as chocolate from Kilwins or a decadent iced coffee from Grind & Grape.

Head out of downtown Vero Beach to American Icon Brewery, a historic power plant turned brewery. With an impressive bar, delicious beers, and tasty menu, it’s a fun place to hang out for the afternoon.

Even more fun, if a train goes by the railroad tracks beside the building, you can order fun $5 shots! If you visit in the spring or summer, be sure to try the award-winning Florida Heat. It’s got a delicious citrus flavor with a hint of heat. Yum!

On Saturday mornings, after watching the sunrise at Humiston Park, walk over to the downtown farmer’s market.

With dozens of local vendors offering fresh fruits, veggies, crafts, and more, it’s a lovely way to start your day. Pick up a variety of berries, cheese, and bread to create an easy picnic breakfast, or enjoy one of the stands offering breakfast sandwiches or Acai bowls.

You can also stock up on fresh produce to enjoy throughout the rest of your Vero Beach visit.

7. Visit the Environmental Learning Center

If you are interested in environmental conversation and education or just want to learn more about the plants and wildlife local to Vero Beach, spend part of your weekend at the Environmental Learning Center (ELC).

Situated on 64 acres, the ELC has interactive exhibits along with guided tours. You can hike a nature trail, enjoy a kayaking or canoeing excursion, and even go on a guided pontoon boat tour.
