✅ Answers & Explanations

1. B — Moses

God told Moses to stretch out his hand over the Red Sea (Exodus 14). The waters divided and Israel crossed on dry ground. When the Egyptians followed, the waters closed over them.

It is the defining rescue of the Old Testament. For a lighter look at the story, try our Exodus Bible Jokes.

2. A — Wine

At a wedding in Cana, the wine ran out. Jesus told the servants to fill stone jars with water, and what they drew out was wine (John 2). The master of the feast said it was better than the wine served earlier. And I bet it tasted better than any wine that was ever made on earth. Yes, even better than our homemade raisin wine and ginger wine. Haha!

John calls this the first of Jesus’ signs. It revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

3. C — Elijah

On Mount Carmel, Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to a test: whichever god answered with fire was the true God (1 Kings 18).

Baal’s prophets got no answer. When Elijah prayed, fire fell and consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the dust, and even the water in the trench.

4. D — Sleeping on a cushion in the stern

A violent storm hit the Sea of Galilee while Jesus slept on a cushion at the back of the boat. The frightened disciples woke Him, and He rebuked the wind and the waves to calm the storm(Mark 4).

The disciples were left asking who this was that even the wind and sea obeyed Him.

5. A — Five

Jesus fed about five thousand men, besides women and children, with five loaves and two fish. The disciples then collected twelve baskets of leftovers.

This is the only miracle of Jesus that was recorded in all four Gospels.

6. D — Mud made with saliva

Jesus made mud with saliva and dirt, put it on the eyes of a man who had been blind from birth, and told him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. The man washed and came back seeing (John 9).

It is an unusual method, and a good reminder that Jesus’ miracles rarely follow the same pattern twice.

7. C — Lazarus

Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days when Jesus arrived in Bethany. Jesus called him out, and Lazarus walked out alive (John 11).

It is one of the signs John records, and it points ahead to Jesus’ own resurrection.

8. B — The waters stopped flowing and the people crossed on dry ground

When Israel entered the Promised Land under Joshua, the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant stepped into the Jordan. The water upstream stopped and piled up, and the whole nation crossed on dry ground (Joshua 3).

It echoed the Red Sea crossing a generation earlier and marked the start of Israel’s life in the land.

9. D — An angel shut the lions’ mouths

Daniel was a man of God we should strive to be like. He was thrown into the lions’ den for praying to God despite a royal decree forbidding it. The next morning the king found him unharmed. Daniel explained that God had sent His angel to shut the lions’ mouths (Daniel 6).

10. C — A great fish swallowed him

Jonah ran from God’s command and was thrown overboard in a storm. God provided a great fish that swallowed him, and Jonah stayed inside for three days and three nights before being brought back onto dry land (Jonah 1–2).

You can get the humorous version of this reluctant prophet’s adventures in our Jonah Bible Jokes.

11. B — Tongues of fire

At Pentecost, a sound like a rushing wind filled the house, and what looked like tongues of fire appeared and rested on each disciple. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages (Acts 2).

Visitors from many nations heard the good news about Jesus in their own languages, and the apostles public mission began that day.

If Peter’s Pentecost sermon could use a modern makeover, our Acts Bible Jokes have you covered. 😉

12. A — Peter

In the early hours of the morning, Jesus came walking toward the disciples on the Sea of Galilee while they struggled against the wind. Peter asked to come to Him, and Jesus said, “Come.” Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water (Matthew 14).

Then he noticed the wind, got frightened, and began to sink. Jesus caught him at once. Matthew is the only Gospel that records Peter’s brief walk.

13. D — Elisha

In 2 Kings 6, a group of prophets were cutting trees to build a larger place to meet when one man’s borrowed axe head fell into the Jordan.

Elisha cut a stick and threw it in where the axe head had gone down, and the iron floated. It is one of the Bible’s more obscure miracles.

14. B — The walls fell down

Following God’s instructions, the Israelites marched around Jericho once a day for six days. On the seventh day they marched around it seven times, the priests blew their trumpets, and the people shouted. The walls collapsed and Israel entered the city (Joshua 6).

It remains one of the Bible’s best-known examples of victory coming in an unexpected way.

15. C — Jesus took her by the hand and she got up

Jairus, a synagogue leader, begged Jesus to come and heal his dying daughter. On the way, messengers arrived with the news that she had died (Mark 5).

Jesus went in, took the girl by the hand, and said “Talitha koum” which means “Little girl, get up”. She rose at once and walked around, and Jesus told her parents to give her something to eat.

16. D — Paul

After a shipwreck on Malta, Paul was gathering sticks for a fire when a viper came out of the heat and fastened onto his hand. The islanders expected him to drop dead, but he shook it off into the fire and was unharmed (Acts 28).

Naturally, this one belongs in our Acts Bible Jokes too.

17. A — Seven

Jesus fed four thousand men, besides women and children, with seven loaves and a few small fish. The disciples collected seven baskets of leftovers (Mark 8).

This is a separate event from the feeding of the five thousand, which left twelve baskets. The two are easy to mix up, which is why the numbers matter.

18. C — A Samaritan

Ten men with leprosy called out to Jesus for mercy, and He sent them to show themselves to the priests. They were healed as they went. Only one turned back, praising God loudly and falling at Jesus’ feet to thank Him, and he was a Samaritan (Luke 17).

Jesus asked where the other nine were. The miracle is remembered as much for the gratitude of one outsider as for the healing itself.
